The Associate Director is responsible for the daily operations of the Nursing Department. Acts for the Director of Nursing in Director's absence. Acts as liaison between hospital and outside agencies, i.e. Fire Department, Client, Brooklyn Union Gas, Building Department, and State Health Department.
Plans, implements, and evaluates all clinical care services provided by the unit, as well as all associated administrative operations and activities
Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives; recruits, employs, trains, supervises, and evaluates unit staff
Reviews, establishes, and maintains patient care protocol s and standards, ensuring that all federal and state policies, regulations, and guidelines for patient care are met
Establishes and coordinates quality improvement, safety, and infection control programs
Oversees the overall operations of the unit (s) reporting to this position

Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience and minimum three (3) years administrative experience
Must have minimum two (2) years of Infection Control or Quality Improvement experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to read, write and interpret documents.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients and/or co-workers.
Must be trained in and knowledgeable of all Kingsbrook/Rutland policies and procedures pertaining to hazardous waste and hazardous materials and maintain qualifications applicable to assigned work.
Knowledge of all codes and demonstrate understanding.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in surroundings with degree of dust, noise, etc. without undue discomfort.
Ability to hear, talk, walk, stand, bend and stretch.
Ability to sit for long periods of time at desk to perform job functions.
Ability to stand for long periods of time at required patient bedside and/or procedural areas."
