Job Title: Patient Care Associate (PCA)
Location: New York, NY
Shift: Evening Shift | 3:00 PM – 11:15 PM | 5 Days/Week (Every other weekend required)
Unit: Medical-Surgical (Must float to all Med-Surg units)
Assignment Duration: 8 weeks
Contract Type: 8 weeks
Hours: 37.5 hours/week | 7.5 hours/day
Hourly rate: $21/hr. on W2
Role Overview:
As a Patient Care Associate, you will be an integral member of the clinical care team, supporting nursing staff in delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. This role involves direct patient support, assisting with activities of daily living, clinical procedures, maintaining safety, and contributing to a culturally sensitive care environment.

This role involves direct patient support, assisting with activities of daily living, clinical procedures, maintaining safety, and contributing to a culturally sensitive care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Support
- Record and monitor vital signs, intake/output, and pain scores.
- Assist with ADLs: feeding, bathing, toileting, mobilization, and orientation.
- Support dietary tasks including tray delivery, meal assistance, and menu completion.
- Provide one-to-one observation for high-risk patients (e.g., suicide, elopement risk).
- Perform venipuncture, EKGs, specimen collection, and post-mortem care.
- Maintain skin integrity, assist with positioning, and apply compression devices.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment, including bed-stripping and trash removal.
- Follow infection control practices, including isolation protocols under RN supervision.
- Answer call systems and phones; greet and direct visitors.
- Transport patients, operate pneumatic tube system, deliver flowers and trays.
- Document rounding and updating communication tools (e.g., discharge log, admission systems).
- Assemble medical records and maintain supplies/equipment.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification: AHA Heart Saver or BLS required.
- Experience: 3–9 months healthcare experience preferred.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize, solve problems, and use sound judgment.
- Proficient in English (oral and written).
- Physical ability to perform job duties across various clinical settings.
- Completion of hospital’s PCA Orientation Program required.
