R&D Technician III

Pay Range: $27-$35/hr.
Description: Onsite: Carlsbad


Job Purpose
This position works independently to assist R&D engineers, scientists, and/or teams in the development and analysis of products, materials, processes, or equipment.

Key Responsibilities
Provides expertise in designing electro-mechanical systems and fixtures.
Interprets detailed schematics from R&D engineering staff to fabricate functional boards in digital, analog, and RF domains, and provides design feedback to the engineering staff.
Utilizes design tools such as SolidWorks and PCB design software (OrCAD, Altium) to develop electronic and mechanical fixtures for engineering evaluation, V&V testing, and production testing.
Supports IPG prototype device builds for characterization studies and V&V testing.
Responsible for tracking and maintaining all laboratory equipment in calibration and ensuring safety and compliance with the quality system.
Responsible for organizing and maintaining the laboratory space.
Operates autonomously based on existing practices, precedents, procedures, and methods; may provide input for improvements, such as updating the V&V test protocols and reports.
Possesses basic knowledge of lab equipment functionality such as power supply, oscilloProduct, DMM, etc., and uses them with minimal support.
Executes tests and troubleshoots test systems and products in production and at vendor locations, including external test houses for environmental and standard testing.

Quality Systems Duties and Responsibilities:
Build Quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.

Qualifications
AA Degree or equivalent work experience in related discipline and 5 years of related experience.
