Title: Surface Technician - 2nd Shift
Location: Orangeburg NY
Contract: 3 Months and Possibility of Extension
2nd shift- 3:30pm-12am
Pay: $16 to $16.50 per hour on W2
Surfacing Blocker
This role supports the Client s Mission Improving Lives by Improving Sight by training employees, working as a lead or guiding the work of others as needed. Some of the work performed may be routine in assigned area that usually repetitive, requiring limited analysis and use of individual judgement.
Surfacing: Specific duties include taping and blocking the lenses, generating, and polishing and lens washing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
o Surfacing Blocker: Utilize the blocking machine to accurately secure a block to all lenses going through the surfacing department. Operate taping equipment to apply protective tape to the front of the lenses.
To be successful, you will need:
High school diploma or equivalent.
High mechanical aptitude
Ability to read/write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment.
Working in a role with measurable standards and a dynamic production environment.
Depth perception and manual dexterity.
Ability to work overtime as needed.
Previous experience in an optical lab production environment is strongly preferred but not required.
Physical demands you will expect in your work environment:
Regularly stand/walk for the duration of shift.
Consistently lift and move up to 15lb above shoulder height and waist high unaccompanied.
The noise level in the laboratory is generally moderate.
Regularly required to work with or around chemicals.
Work area may be wet/dirty and or have a strong smell.
