Location: Lakeland, FL
Duration: 4+ Months (Possible Extension)
Schedule:
- Mon–Fri: 5:30 AM – 1:30 PM (XVR – Lakeland South)
- Every 3rd Saturday: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM (@ L2Z)
Position Overview
The Phlebotomist I (Patient Services Representative I) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, providing highquality specimen collection and exceptional customer service. This role is responsible for drawing accurate blood samples, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and ensuring all procedures follow established safety and quality standards. The Phlebotomist I creates a professional, trustworthy environment while maintaining confidentiality, accuracy, and patient comfort.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily phlebotomy and specimen processing duties accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with established clinical and forensic collection procedures.
- Collect blood samples from a diverse patient population—including pediatric, adult, and geriatric—while maintaining patient comfort and ensuring proper identification and labeling.
- Prepare, package, and process specimens for laboratory transport, ensuring compliance with testing requirements and documentation standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment by following infection control, safety, and quality assurance protocols.
- Provide clear explanations of procedures to patients, fostering an atmosphere of trust, respect, and professionalism.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation as required, ensuring confidentiality of all patient information.
- Demonstrate organizational commitment by representing the company positively to patients, clients, coworkers, and the public.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while meeting strict performance, accuracy, and productivity standards.
- Display flexibility in scheduling, including availability for weekends, holidays, overtime, and coverage needs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience required; 1+ year preferred.
- Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric draws.
- Keyboarding and dataentry proficiency required.
- Customer service experience in a retail, healthcare, or service setting preferred.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (mandatory only in CA, NV, WA).
- Ability to produce accurate, errorfree work in a fastpaced and highvolume environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal onsite supervision.
Additional Requirements
- Must have reliable transportation (no rideshare dependency).
- Must live within a 20–25 minute commute to the job site (must list home city & commute time on resume).
- Must maintain punctuality, stay for full scheduled shifts, and have minimal absences—excessive tardiness/absenteeism results in termination.
