- Shift Time: Nights.
- Hours: 18:30 – 07:00.
- Shift length: 12 hours.
- Weekend rotation: Every other.
- On Call: n/a.
- Scrub Color: Hunter Green.
- Required Certifications: RRT, NRP, BLS, ACLS.
- MI RT license: Must have in hand prior to start date.
Job Summary:
- Applies scientific knowledge/therapy to practical clinical problems of respiratory care.
- As a team member in delivery of respiratory services, and under medical direction, performs a wide range of procedures related to the care of patients with general and specialized respiratory-related needs, including those in the Pediatric areas.
Education:
- Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy. Required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy. Preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
- LIC – Respiratory Therapist – STATE_MI, State of Michigan. Upon Hire. Required.
- CRT – Respiratory Therapist Certification – NBRC, National Board for Respiratory Care. Upon Hire.
- Or CRT – Respiratory Therapist Registry – NBRC, National Board for Respiratory Care. 1 Year. Required.
- CRT – Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – AHA, American Heart Association. 90 Days. Required.
- CRT – Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – AHA, American Heart Association. 90 Days. Required.
- CRT – Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA, American Heart Association. 90 Days. Required.
- Or CRT – Basic Life Support (BLS) – ARC, client. 90 Days. Required.
Essential Functions:
- Performs evaluation to determine respiratory care needs, and makes appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines. Assesses effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards.
- Completes and documents required education and competencies within designated timeframe. Maintains competency in areas of accountability.
- Accurate and timely completion of all necessary documentation and billing.
- Facilitates a smooth transition for the patient to appropriate referral services / the next point of service / home and provides education to patients and families as it relates to respiratory issues.
- Instructs and trains other respiratory care staff, nursing and other medical personnel and students regarding patient needs and respiratory care services.
- Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
