Phlebotomist I
Job Title: Phlebotomist I
Location: Jacksonville, FL
Duration: 7+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM; Mandatory Saturday Rotation, 6:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Position Summary:
The Phlebotomist I (Patient Services Representative I) serves as the face of the organization, providing exceptional patient care and accurate specimen collection. This role involves drawing quality blood samples, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and maintaining compliance with established protocols. The Phlebotomist I ensures patient comfort, confidentiality, and safety while delivering superior service in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections for patients of all age groups, including pediatric and geriatric.
- Collect specimens for clinical and forensic testing, including drug screens and biometric screenings.
- Accurately enter patient registration, test orders, and billing information into laboratory systems.
- Prepare, label, and process specimens for testing, ensuring proper handling and integrity.
- Maintain required logs, records, and documentation in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Provide clear communication and excellent customer service to patients and clients.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment while adhering to infection control protocols.
- Travel to additional sites as needed and participate in Saturday rotations.
- Demonstrate flexibility for overtime, holidays, and on-call coverage based on staffing needs.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required).
- Medical training preferred (Medical Assistant or Paramedic).
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (Required in CA, NV, WA).
- Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience required; 1+ year preferred.
- Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable transportation and punctuality are mandatory.
