Position Summary:
- This position will work with other team members to manage, modify, and develop computer systems required to manufacture optical fiber.
- The position will also participate in or occasionally lead projects to meet the plant's objectives, drive cost reduction efforts and participate in capacity expansion efforts.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Assist team of engineers to provide production support and troubleshooting for 24/7 manufacturing operation. Work with production associates, technicians, and engineers to ensure reliable equipment operation via automated control systems and user interfaces.
- Support process and product optimization/improvement efforts.
- Provide training for engineers and/or production associates as needed for new processes, equipment, or control systems.
- Participate in capital projects.
- Some after hours, on-call support may be needed.
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science; or equivalent experience
- 5+ years in a technical role or relevant experience
Required Skills:
- Knowledge in computer and PLC programming skills such as: VB, .net, C, Realtime systems or similar
Desired Skills:
- Ability/experience integrating computers into manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and lower cost
- MS Windows, iFIX, EthernetIP I/O, Microsoft Office. Real time controls systems, experience with motion systems (desired but not required), SCADA, Twincat
- Experience in production support in a manufacturing environment
- Problem-solving and debugging skills; ability to understand real needs behind operations and engineering requests
- Ability/experience troubleshooting simple low voltage electrical circuitry
Travel Requirements & Work Hours:
- Monday-Friday 8AM - 5PM. Occasional off-hours on call
