Mechanical Design Engineer I
Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering Intern
Location: South End, Boston, MA (On-site)
Role Overview:
This opportunity offers hands-on experience and mentorship in the evolving manufacturing engineering field. The candidate will assist the engineering team in various tasks such as lab design, automation, materials management, and new product introduction (NPI) development. You'll gain valuable skills through direct involvement in problem-solving, construction, production support, and distribution processes.
Key Responsibilities:

Construct and wire custom automated lab devices

Assist with functional testing and analysis of equipment

Operate power tools (drills, saws, machine shop equipment)

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment
-
Assemble multi-level electro-mechanical sub-assemblies
-
Improve and document manufacturing equipment, tooling, and processes
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
-
Hands-on experience with electromechanical systems
-
Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
-
Experience programming microprocessors
-
Willingness to learn LEAN manufacturing concepts

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Education:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a focus on Mechatronics (preferred)

Strong proficiency in CAD 3D modeling and engineering drawings

Basic understanding of electronics

Reliable transportation
