ACCOUNTING TECH
Job Title: Payroll and Accounting Specialist
Shift: Full-Time | Day Shift
Location: Salinas, CA
Pay: $30 Per hour
Role Overview:
The Payroll and Accounting Specialist is responsible for managing payroll processing, vendor payments, and financial records with accuracy and confidentiality. This role requires strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to resolve discrepancies while supporting the overall accounting functions of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll & Employee Records:

Process updates and corrections to employee payroll, time, and leave records.

Review and audit payroll reports for accuracy and completeness.

Handle court-ordered deductions (garnishments), reconcile registers, and initiate disbursements.

Maintain records for military leave, jury duty, disability, and workers’ compensation.

Prepare, sort, and distribute payroll reports and checks.

Process employment verification requests from government and financial agencies.
-
Manage stop payments, adjusted checks, and replacement check processing.
Vendor & Accounts Payable Support:

Match, code, and input vendor invoices/credit memos with purchase orders.

Collaborate with Materials Management to resolve invoice discrepancies.

Match and prepare vendor checks for disbursement; ensure documentation accuracy.

Print and distribute accounts payable, payroll, and refund checks.

File and maintain all related check documentation.
Administrative & Support Duties:

Provide courteous and professional customer service to employees and vendors.

Deliver mail within the General Accounting Department.

Accurately interpret and apply internal policies to resolve payroll and vendor-related issues.

Support Accounts Receivable for external services as required.

Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:

Experience: Minimum of 3 years in accounting/bookkeeping; at least 1 year in payroll.

Technical Proficiency:
-
Proficient in Microsoft Excel (including formulas and data entry).

Ability to operate adding machines and computers efficiently.

Interpersonal Skills:

Effective communication and problem-solving skills.

Ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations.

Strong customer service orientation.

Mental & Physical Requirements:

Aptitude for numbers, multitasking, and high concentration.
