Principal Test Engineering Technician
Job Title: Principal Test Engineering Technician
Job Location: Miami, FL
Job Duration: 18 months+
Shift: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Job Summary:
The Principal Test Engineering Technician supports Test Engineers in developing complex in-circuit test fixtures and functional test equipment for electro-mechanical, hydro-pneumatic, and optical sub-assemblies and systems. The role involves hands-on maintenance, repair, calibration, and validation of test equipment while ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Test Equipment Development & Maintenance
- Fabricate, duplicate, document, update, repair, and certify new and existing production test equipment.
- Construct test equipment and reverse-engineer mechanical fixturing as needed.
- Interpret electrical and mechanical schematics to troubleshoot and optimize equipment.
- Ensure all test fixtures and equipment comply with regulatory and company standards.
- Respond to production line test equipment issues that affect output, yield, or product quality.
- Service existing test equipment to maintain operational efficiency.
- Identify and implement enhancements to test equipment for improved manufacturing processes.
- Provide design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for test (DFT) input for products and test equipment.
- Recommend changes to test equipment to improve cost, quality, and methods.
- Address material support or obsolescence issues by modifying test and validation procedures.
- Perform test equipment certification to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or higher education with Experience in the following areas:
- Constructing and servicing test equipment.
- Interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Reverse-engineering mechanical fixturing.
- Providing inputs for ongoing test equipment improvements.
- Performing test equipment certification.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for electro-mechanical, hydro-pneumatic, and optical systems.
- Knowledge of test fixture development and validation processes.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance standards in testing environments.
