Packaging Operator (3-5 years)

The Operator will work in the Indianapolis Device Assembly and Packaging plant where Client products for domestic and international markets are assembled and packaged. The primary purpose of the job is to package products.
Key Objectives/Deliverables:
Adhere to IDAP Site safety policies and procedures and contribute to a safe work environment.
Setup and operations of equipment in packaging areas.
Adhere to standard operating procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure quality of product.
Document process steps on appropriate batch documentation.
Attain and maintain qualification for the operation of assigned process equipment and duties in the area.
Identify opportunities for operational improvements.
Proactively monitor documentation and product quality, properly documenting all activity and reporting issues to supervision.
Setup, operate, and clear packaging line equipment and/or ancillary support equipment to meet efficiency expectations. Replenish packaging materials like wrapping paper, plastic sheets, boxes, cartons, and labeling systems to include ink, glue and paper. Inspect in-process packaging to endure consistent quality and remove defective products and packaging material in the process. Segregate finished packaged items from machine that conform to specification and separate rejected items. Conduct inventory count on finished and rejected packaged items. Monitor packaging and filling operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products in accordance to standards. Monitor the packaging production line to forestall potential bottlenecks, pile-ups, jams, glue not sticking properly or labels being stamp in the wrong location. Place daily emphasis on meeting production standards, achieving product quality standards and maintaining a safe and sanitary environment. Know and follow cGMP practices, safe work habits, plant dress code, hygiene standards and housekeeping requirements unusual to the work area and job classification. Perform light-duty maintenance work and general housekeeping in area and assist maintenance or other team members in area. It is critical to be on time and available for each scheduled shift.

Quals--
Must pass a Post Offer Exam prior to start along with a hearing test
Ability to lift and move materials up to 20 pounds
Ability to demonstrate attention to detail.
Basic math skills basic counting for material returns/consumptions
Basic computer skills, with the capability to learn in more detail. We use electronic batch records so if we perform an activity we document it in the computer


Excellent documentation skills.
Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, working safely and accountable for supporting all HSE Corporate and Site Goals.
Minimum 2 years Packaging experience.
Experience on an automated Packaging line.
Must be in good standing with local attendance policies
Additional Preferences:
Strong ability to multitask.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Curiosity and technical abilities/troubleshooting.
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Other Information:
Ability to wear safety equipment (safety glasses, safety shoes, protective gloves etc.).
Ability to work overtime, weekends, and off shifts.
