Position Summary
The Phlebotomist II / Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the face of the organization to patients seeking routine or critical diagnostic testing. This role is responsible for collecting highquality blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory analysis, and ensuring accurate patient information while maintaining a professional, safe, and compassionate environment. The PSR II will demonstrate leadership behaviors, uphold confidentiality, and consistently deliver an excellent patient experience.
Assignments may include doctor’s offices, Patient Service Centers, or other locations based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily phlebotomy and specimen processing activities accurately and within established timelines under the guidance of the area supervisor.
- Create a safe, professional, and welcoming environment for all patients.
- Confidently perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection following established procedures.
- Verify patient identification and demographics; obtain initials/signatures postcollection to confirm labeling accuracy.
- Maintain required logs, records, documentation, and compliance standards.
- Promote a positive organizational image to patients, clients, and the general public.
- Adhere to policies regarding dress code, safety, and operational excellence.
- Handle highvolume workloads while maintaining accuracy and customer focus.
- Communicate effectively and transparently with patients, peers, and supervisors.
- Travel to multiple locations as required and provide coverage with minimal notice.
- Support training efforts as assigned; training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
Job Requirements
- Ability to deliver highquality, errorfree work in a fastpaced environment.
- Strong independent work skills with minimal onsite supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Flexibility for weekends, holidays, oncall duties, and overtime as needed.
- Sound decisionmaking ability based on established procedures.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if travel is applicable).
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Ability to adapt to change, maintain accuracy, and protect patient confidentiality.
- Keyboarding/data entry proficiency.
Education
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or related clinical training.
- Preferred Certification: Phlebotomy Certification (Required in CA, NV, and WA).
Experience
- 1–3 years phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections (REQUIRED).
- 2 years experience in a Patient Service Center environment (Preferred).
- Customer service experience in retail or service settings (Highly preferred).
