Days: Normally eight-hour days but hours will vary according to work demands and project requirements; will require on-call support. Other: Occasional attendance at evening meetings.

Summary:
- The Infection Prevention Coordinator (IPC) is a healthcare professional who works both independently and collaboratively with the Infection Prevention Manager (IPM) and the Medical Director of Infectious Disease Medicine/Hospital Epidemiology.
- The IPC serves as a subject matter expert and infection control officer, supporting service lines across the organization to ensure compliance with CMS, TJC, Title XXII, and internal hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Coordination:
- Collaborate with hospital leadership on the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Infection Prevention Program.
- Participate in daily inpatient rounds for surveillance activities and patient education related to communicable diseases.
- Escalate issues to the IPM as appropriate, while exercising sound judgment in daily decision-making.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other related fields such as epidemiology, public health, or microbiology.
- Master’s degree preferred. Strong knowledge of infection prevention and epidemiology, TJC, Cal-OSHA, CMS standards. Course completion of APIC EPI 101 within 12 months of hire.
- Certified Infection Control (CIC) highly preferred or obtained within 3 years of hire date.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years acute care experience with 2+ year’s acute care infection prevention or healthcare epidemiology preferred. Two years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
