Phlebotomist I
Location: Fernandina Beach, FL, 32034
Duration: 3 Months
Shift: 2 shifts available - 7a-3p OR 8a-4p Both with rotating Saturdays 7a-12p
Job Summary
The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, delivering high-quality customer service while performing accurate and safe blood specimen collection. This role supports both routine healthcare visits and critical diagnostic decisions by ensuring specimen integrity, patient comfort, and compliance with established clinical and forensic procedures. The PSR I promotes trust, professionalism, confidentiality, and operational excellence in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities

Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection using established clinical and forensic protocols

Prepare, label, process, and package specimens for laboratory testing

Accurately complete required documentation and maintain patient records

Ensure patient identification, safety, confidentiality, and data accuracy at all times

Explain procedures clearly and compassionately to patients to promote comfort and confidence

Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment

Demonstrate leadership behaviors and commitment to process excellence

Complete daily tasks accurately and within required timeframes under supervisor direction

Represent the organization positively to patients, clients, coworkers, and the public
Required Skills & Competencies

Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections

Ability to deliver error-free work in a fast-paced environment

Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision

Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry systems

High attention to detail, accuracy, and compliance
Schedule & Availability

Flexible availability required

Must be able to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed
Education Requirements
-
High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
-
Medical Assistant or Paramedic training (Preferred)
-
Phlebotomy certification (Preferred; Required in CA, NV, and WA)
Experience Requirements
-
Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience (Required)
-
1+ year of phlebotomy experience (Preferred)
-
Customer service experience in retail or service environments (Preferred)
-
Data entry experience (Required)
