Financial Counselor
Job Title: Financial Counselor
Location: Summit, NJ 07901
Duration: 3 months W2 contract with high possibility of extension based on performance and business needs
Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 4:00 PM
Pay Range: $20 to $24/Hour on W2
Job Summary:
The Financial Counselor is responsible for evaluating patients' ability to pay for healthcare services and assisting with financial arrangements. This role involves providing cost estimates, collecting payments, and helping patients apply for financial assistance programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patients' financial responsibility and set up payment plans (cash, check, credit card, or structured plan).
- Use Epic estimator tool to generate cost estimates and collect upfront payments, including deductibles and co-pays.
- Conduct financial interviews in person, by phone, or at the patient s bedside to determine eligibility for assistance programs.
- Complete and submit applications for charity care, Medicaid, and 501R financial assistance.
- Obtain and verify insurance information, check coverage eligibility, and update patient accounts accordingly.
- Respond to phone inquiries and perform general administrative tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience with charity care, Explanation of Benefits (EOB), Medicaid, and cash collections.
- Bilingual skills preferred.
