Position Overview
The Phlebotomist II / Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) plays a critical role in providing highquality patient care and ensuring accurate specimen collection. As the face of the organization, the PSR II interacts directly with patients, offering a professional, compassionate, and reassuring experience during their visit.
This role requires strong phlebotomy skills—including pediatric, geriatric, venipuncture, and capillary collections—while also maintaining confidentiality, accuracy, and organizational excellence. PSR II employees may be assigned to a doctor’s office, patient service center, or other locations based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Phlebotomy
- Draw highquality blood samples using safe, accurate, and established collection techniques.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing according to standard operating procedures.
- Create an atmosphere of trust by thoroughly explaining procedures and ensuring patient comfort.
- Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection with accuracy and confidence.
- Verify patient demographics, initials, and obtain patient signature after venipuncture to confirm correct labeling in their presence.
Operational Duties
- Complete daily tasks accurately and on time under the supervision of the area supervisor.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment.
- Ensure all required documentation and records are properly maintained.
- Uphold organizational commitment and promote a positive, professional image to patients, clients, peers, and the public.
Administrative & Compliance
- Follow all company Policies & Procedures including dress code, safety standards, and the Everyday Excellence Guiding Principles.
- Exercise good judgment and decisionmaking based on established guidelines.
- Communicate openly and professionally with supervisors, peers, and patients.
Flexibility & MultiSite Coverage
- Travel to multiple locations as needed; flexible hours may be required.
- Provide coverage at Patient Service Centers or InOffice Phlebotomy sites with minimal notice.
- Work weekends, holidays, oncall shifts, and overtime as staffing needs dictate.
Job Requirements
Technical & Behavioral Skills
- Ability to produce quality, errorfree work in a fastpaced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Demonstrated customer service excellence and superior patient focus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in highvolume settings.
- Must embrace and adapt to change quickly.
- Keyboarding and data entry proficiency required.
Travel & Reliability
- Must have reliable personal transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record (if applicable).
- Candidates relying on bus, Uber, or rideshare will not be accepted.
- Must be punctual, dependable, and available for the entire scheduled shift.
- Excessive lateness or absenteeism will result in termination.
- Must reside within a 20–25 minute commute to the jobsite.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent — REQUIRED
- Medical assistant or paramedic training — Preferred
- Phlebotomy certification — Preferred (Required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Work Experience
- 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience REQUIRED, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- 2 years of Patient Service Center experience preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment — Highly preferred.
- Data entry/keyboarding experience required.

- Candidate’s home city and commute time (20–25 minutes max) must be listed on the resume.
- Pay rate will be based on years of direct phlebotomy experience only; overlapping roles will not be doublecounted.
- Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
