Phlebotomist II
Job Location: Columbia MO
Job Duration: 3+ Months
Shift: Mon - Fri 8:30am - 5:30pm
Position Summary
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the face of the company, interacting directly with patients who visit for routine wellness or critical health-related testing. The PSR II is responsible for drawing quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis in accordance with established procedures. This role requires professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to create an atmosphere of trust and confidence for patients. PSR IIs are expected to demonstrate leadership behaviors, uphold confidentiality, ensure accuracy in patient information, and work with a high level of process excellence. Assignments may include doctor’s offices, patient service centers, or other locations as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Specimen Collection & Processing

Perform clinical and forensic specimen collection with confidence and accuracy.

Explain procedures to patients, ensuring comfort and understanding.

Verify patient demographic information and obtain required signatures post-venipuncture.

Ensure all specimens are labeled correctly in the patient’s presence.

Prepare and process specimens following established protocols.
Operational Duties

Perform daily tasks accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.

Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.

Maintain required documentation, logs, and records.
-
Adhere to all Policies & Procedures, including dress code, Health & Safety, and Everyday Excellence Guiding Principles.
Customer Service & Professionalism

Promote a positive image to patients, clients, colleagues, and the public.

Job Requirements

Ability to produce high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced setting.

Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.

Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.

Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and be on-call as needed.

Must be able to make sound decisions using established procedures and good judgment.

Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable).

Willingness to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations, often with minimal notice.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.

Ability to embrace change and demonstrate knowledge of business operations.

Keyboarding/data entry experience required.

Customer service experience in retail or service industries highly preferred.
Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
Required Education
-
High school diploma or equivalent (REQUIRED).
Work Experience
-
1–3 years of phlebotomy experience.
