Job Title: Medical Assistant
Department: OB/GYN and Rheumatology
Location: Greenlawn, NY
Shift Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Schedule: Monday to Friday (37.5 hours/week)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Pay Rate: $21/hour negotiable
Role Overview:
The Medical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting physicians and clinical staff by delivering high-quality patient care and efficient administrative support. The role involves clinical procedures, patient interaction, and clerical duties in both OB/GYN and Rheumatology specialties.

Department: OB/GYN and Rheumatology
Location: Greenlawn, NY
Shift Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Role Overview:
The Medical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting physicians and clinical staff by delivering high-quality patient care and efficient administrative support. The role involves clinical procedures, patient interaction, and clerical duties in both OB/GYN and Rheumatology specialties.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical & Technical Support:
- Perform EKGs, PFTs, audiometry, and lab testing as ordered.
- Take and record vital signs, medical/medication/allergy history, height, and weight.
- Follow CLIA and OSHA guidelines during lab and patient care procedures.
- Conduct quality control and daily equipment checks (oxygen, emergency kits, etc.).
- Admit patients to exam rooms and ensure clinical documentation is complete.
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen labeling, as applicable.
- Register and schedule patients using the current EMR system.
- Update insurance and eligibility information; maintain accurate daily ledgers.
- Process HMO referrals and retrieve/file lab reports and medical records.
- Maintain and stock exam rooms; manage supply inventory and check deliveries.
- Document all patient communications, treatments, and referrals appropriately.
- Greet patients and visitors professionally and courteously.
- Provide discharge instructions as directed by the physician.
- Notify patients of test results following physician review.
- Communicate emergencies to physicians promptly.
- Answer phones, take detailed messages, and ensure timely follow-up.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.

Certifications:
- BLS certification (required)
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (required)
- Minimum two (2) years of Medical Assistant experience required

Experience: Minimum 2 years as a Medical Assistant required
- OB/GYN and/or Rheumatology experience a strong plus

Skills:
- Excellent phone and interpersonal communication
- Flexibility and multitasking in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Proficiency with computer data entry and electronic health record systems
