Location: Morristown, NJ 07960
Duration: 5 Months+ (Possible Extension)

Pay rate: $25/hr. on W2


Schedule:
  • Shift: 8:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Work Pattern: 7 nights on / 7 nights off, starting Thursday
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Hours per Day: 10.5
  • Days per Week: 5
 
Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician provides comprehensive support in hospital pharmacy operations, including order filling, IV preparation, inventory management, automated dispensing machine operations, and customer service. Accuracy, teamwork, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards are essential.
 
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
1. Filling Orders
  • Accurately fill and prepare orders for pharmacist review.
  • Prepare extemporaneous and IV preparations.
  • Stock and replenish carts, trays, boxes, and kits.
  • Perform cart/bin exchanges, return unused or discontinued medications, check expirations, and replace medications/supplies.
  • Document all activities clearly and legibly.
2. Distribution / Returns
  • Handle requests via phone, window, fax, and computer.
  • Deliver medications via pneumatic tube, hand-delivery, or courier.
  • Sort and return medications from nursing stations.
3. Teamwork
  • Support departmental goals and assist staff flexibly.
  • Comply with departmental coverage guidelines.
  • Support Atlantic Health strategic goals.
4. Sterile Preparations
  • Prepare IVs aseptically and efficiently.
  • Batch, document, and store medications promptly.
  • Monitor IV status and coordinate treatments.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of IV equipment, sterile techniques, hazardous drug handling, and total parenteral nutrition.
5. Automated Dispensing Machine
  • Fill and maintain automated dispensing machines.
  • Handle stock outs, failed drawers, discrepancy reports, and expired medications.
  • Perform monthly inspections and reconcile reports.
  • Resolve equipment or medication issues, escalating as necessary.
6. Repackaging / Inventory Control
  • Repackage oral medications accurately with barcodes.
  • Check expirations and segregate outdated or recalled medications.
  • Organize medications and supplies efficiently.
  • Document all processes accurately.
7. Performance Improvement / Customer Satisfaction
  • Respond promptly and courteously to phone and in-person requests.
  • Participate in performance improvement, cost-savings, and departmental initiatives.
  • Work independently and collaboratively on projects, teams, and committees.
  • Maintain professional interactions with patients, staff, and healthcare professionals.
 
Required Education & Certifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Active registration with the State of New Jersey Board of Pharmacy
Preferred Certifications:
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
Skills / Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years hospital pharmacy experience preferred
  • Oncology or infusion center experience preferred
