Job Title: Quality Assurance Associate I
Location: Massillon, OH
Duration: 04 months (possible extension)
Schedule: Monday - Friday 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm (30-minute lunch) - 2nd Shift
Pay Rate: $22.50/hr. on w2.
Job Description:
- This position provides the front line of quality assurance activity.
- The principal objective is to observe and audit production processes and verify that requirements are being met.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Participate/support the QRMP (Quality Risk Management Process) and assist in the development of the system, operational standards, and corrective actions.
- Participate in Golden Rule compliance for the factory.
- Product working knowledge of company policy regarding Quality and Food Safety.
- Audit and record HACCP and control point data as required by policy.
- Audit and record ingredient usage for lot tracking verification using process sheets, weight sheets, and product specification data.
- Audit processing systems for conformity to company standards, specifications, and government regulations.
- Apply Hold Tags to equipment, product, or areas found out of compliance.
- Document/log Hold Tags applied and generate component reject and Hold reports.
- Audit and record operational sanitation activities and GMPs in assigned areas
- Audit weight control records for assigned lines.
- Audit information on product cartons and cases, including description, codes, and dates.
- Monitor product quality through formal and informal procedures on assigned lines/products.
- Assist in training others in Quality Assurance functions.
- Collect required PE/NLV/Micro/Fat samples for assigned areas.
- Perform product evaluations as per SOPs, including data entry and FM log maintenance.
- Report all Food Safety/Quality incidents in the appropriate database.
- Evaluate and analyze products rejected by metal detectors.
- Perform metal detector and check weigher verification checks during operations.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of lab supplies, grading materials, and forms.
- Maintain production log book using current pack plans.
- Collect, sort, scan, and file production process sheets.
- Perform 5S housekeeping duties in the lab.
- Use Oracle Agile and SAP systems (working knowledge required).
- Issue process sheets for daily production and update changes as needed.
- Monitor rework/hold and assist in disposition.
- Inform and assist supervisors/team leaders in corrective actions related to quality, GMP, SOP, HACCP, and formulation.
- Collect necessary information to support SCAR processes.
- Support safety processes including hazard recognition, inspections, training, accident investigations, and safety meetings.
- Interpret company policies and enforce safety regulations.
- Work flexible hours including shifts, overtime, and weekends as required.
- Inspect the factory for cleaning deviations.
- Coordinate re-cleaning with shift leaders and re-inspect after completion.
- Perform ATP and other bacterial swabs.
- Tour the facility with USDA inspectors.
- Complete and maintain legal HACCP and pre-op documentation.
- Trend ATP swab results and provide recommendations.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- BS Degree in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or related science preferred.
- OR high school diploma/GED with 2–4 years of related experience/training or equivalent combination.
- Knowledge of PCs, scales, refractometers, ovens, and office equipment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of food-related Code of Federal Regulations.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements for assigned roles.

- Ability to use hands/arms to handle objects and controls
- Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, and humid environments.
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs or more.
- Good vision (distant and peripheral) to identify and distinguish items.
- Ability to work in high-noise environments (hearing protection required).
- May work near moving mechanical parts, in confined spaces, and outdoors.
