Job Summary:
The Laboratory Technician performs routine lab tests under the supervision of Medical Technologists and the Laboratory Supervisor. This role involves setting up and monitoring automated test procedures, conducting manual procedures requiring judgment, and utilizing pre-calibrated and/or automated devices.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Adhere to laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analysis, result reporting, and record maintenance.

Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.

Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures in accordance with department SOPs.

Review and release test results in a timely and accurate manner.

Comply with CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and other relevant safety guidelines.

Follow quality control policies, document quality control activities, instrument calibrations, and procedural maintenance.

Identify and troubleshoot issues affecting test performance or result accuracy; escalate to senior technologists or supervisors when necessary.

Document corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.

Follow department protocols for reporting critical results to clients.

Address inquiries from clients or other laboratory personnel, if applicable.

Maintain complete and accurate records of all testing performed.

Ensure the laboratory environment remains clean and organized.

Verify reagent/test kit receipt dates, expiration dates, and opening dates as applicable.

Review and train on new procedures as needed.

Attend departmental meetings and additional training/educational sessions.

Participate in all required safety training and understand the location and use of safety equipment.

Perform moderate-complexity testing as required, with appropriate training.

Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:

Education : BS/BA in Chemistry, Biology, or an Associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.

Work Experience: 1 - 3 years of clinical experience preferred.
