Billing Specialist I - Pharmacy Billing Coordinator
Job Title: Billing Specialist I - Pharmacy Billing Coordinator
Location: Philadelphia, PA 15146 (within 1-hour commute)
Job Duration: 6 Months+ (possibility of extension)
Summary:
Detail-oriented healthcare reimbursement professional with 1+ year of experience in insurance billing, patient assistance programs, and revenue cycle coordination. Skilled in resolving insurance claims, working with third-party payers, maintaining accurate patient and billing records, and providing excellent customer service. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook with strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Submit and transmit third-party insurance claims (paper/electronic) for timely reimbursement of dispensed medications
- Resolve insurance and patient issues due to incomplete or inaccurate information, therapy changes, or pharmacy/shipping errors
- Maintain chronological notes detailing actions taken to resolve billing edits and follow-up on outstanding claims
- Update patient demographic, insurance, and assistance program information in internal billing systems
- Contact patients, physicians, and insurance carriers to expedite claims and clarify billing inquiries
- Generate and maintain billing reports, queues, and diversions according to payer and company policy guidelines
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support patient reimbursement and financial operations
Skills & Competencies:
- Healthcare reimbursement / medical insurance billing (1+ year experience)
- Experience with healthcare reimbursement systems
- Strong Microsoft Office skills: Excel (data entry, formulas, reporting), Word, Outlook
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes
- Customer service and team collaboration skills
- Attention to detail, multitasking, and analytical abilities
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple assignments simultaneously
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED (verifiable)
Work Requirements / Preferences:
- Must be available to work in-office 4x per month, plus additional meetings as needed
- Must reside within 1 hour of Monroeville, PA
