Join our esteemed medical team in the vibrant city of Houston, TX, a hub for medical innovation and cultural diversity. We are seeking a dedicated professional to perform exceptional quality routine and specialized Nuclear Radiology procedures. This role involves working closely with licensed independent practitioners and radiologists to deliver precise diagnostic information.
Duties
- Integrate scientific knowledge, technical skills, patient interaction, and compassionate care to ensure successful procedure completion.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- Maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and technique.
- Enhance knowledge of radiation safety and protection for self, patients, and others.
- Prepare, administer, and document medication-related activities in accordance with state regulations and institutional policies.
- Serve as a liaison between patients, radiologists, and other support team members.
- Confirm patient identity with approved identifiers and demonstrate age-appropriate care.
- Verify patient’s pregnancy and informed consent statuses.
- Assess factors that may contraindicate the procedure, including medication contraindications, patient risk for reaction to medications, patient history, laboratory results, and insufficient patient preparation or artifacts.
- Determine the type and dose of contrast agent based on the patient’s age, weight, and medical/physical status.
- Anticipate and respond to patients' needs throughout the entire encounter, reaching out to others as needed.
Skills
- Operate all required equipment, including troubleshooting when necessary, such as automated processors, copying/digitizing film equipment, R.I.S., and PACS.
- Basic life support and medical terminology understanding is required.
- Must be articulate, courteous, and supportive in dealing with patients, parents, nursing, faculty, administrative, and departmental personnel to achieve excellent customer service and positive guest relations.
- Honor confidentiality at all times.
- Independently scan patients by following established protocols.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Utilize basic office equipment, such as fax machines.
- Bilingual skills are preferable.
