Job Summary:
- The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the face of the company to patients, ensuring a positive experience while they come in for routine health services or life-defining health decisions. The PSR II is responsible for drawing quality blood samples from patients, preparing specimens for lab testing, and following established practices and procedures. The role involves direct patient contact, creating an atmosphere of trust, and explaining procedures. The PSR II will consistently demonstrate leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy. The position may be assigned to a doctor's office, patient service center, or other locations as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Interaction:
- Draws blood specimens from patients in a safe, skillful, and accurate manner.
- Explains procedures to patients to build trust and confidence.
- Ensures quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to confidentiality and patient information.
- Specimen Collection & Processing:
- Performs both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing.
- Verifies patient demographic information, including initials and signature post-venipuncture, ensuring proper labeling.
- Maintains required records and documentation.
Work Environment & Leadership:
- Maintains a safe and professional environment.
- Demonstrates organizational commitment and promotes a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
- Follows all company policies, including dress code, employee health & safety, and guiding principles for everyday excellence.
- Works independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strong attention to detail and patient safety.
Flexibility & Availability:
- Flexibly works across multiple locations based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime when required.
- Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Customer Focus & Communication:
- Communicates openly with peers, supervisors, and patients, ensuring clear and transparent communication.
- Demonstrates superior customer focus by accelerating and embracing change.
Job Requirements:
Experience & Skills:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and produce error-free work.
- At least 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment (preferred).
- Prior customer service experience, particularly in a retail or service environment, preferred.
- Keyboard and data entry experience.
Certifications & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical training, such as medical assistant or paramedic training, is preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification is preferred (Required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
Additional Requirements:
- Must possess reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record (if applicable).
- Must be flexible and available to work various shifts, travel to different locations, and cover at Patient Service Center/In-Office Phlebotomy locations with minimal notice.
- Must be able to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
