Job Summary:
- The Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for performing designated respiratory care and pulmonary diagnostic procedures in accordance with hospital and department policies.
- The role involves the treatment, management, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies or abnormalities, across both critical and non-critical care settings.
- These services are provided based on physician orders and include therapeutic treatments, diagnostic testing, and various forms of ventilatory support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform therapeutic treatments and diagnostic testing using medical gases, equipment, and environmental control systems (e.g., humidification and aerosols).
- Administer medications to the cardiopulmonary system as prescribed.
- Provide ventilatory support, including maintenance and management of life support systems.
- Conduct bronchial clearance and breathing exercises for patients.
- Provide patient education on respiratory care and procedures.
- Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) when necessary.
- Maintain natural and artificial airways to support respiratory function.
- Complete procedures on patients of all ages, including in critical care and non-critical care areas.
- Follow hospital and departmental protocols to ensure safe, high-quality care.
- Uphold the [Hospital/Organization] mission, vision, and values in all job functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of worked or educational clinical experience in both general and critical care is required.
Current State of Wisconsin License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) is required - BLS -AHA
- ACLS
Education:
Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program is required.
Certifications & Licenses:
- ACLS – AHA
- BLS
- RCP License (Respiratory Care Practitioner)
