Phlebotomist I
Title: Phlebotomist I
Location: Ocala, FL
Shift: Mon-Fri 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM, Rotational Saturdays
Duration: 4 Months
The Patient Services Representative I serves as the primary point of contact for patients, delivering professional, compassionate care while performing high-quality phlebotomy and specimen collection. Responsible for accurately collecting, processing, and preparing clinical and forensic specimens for laboratory testing while maintaining strict adherence to safety, quality, and confidentiality standards. Demonstrates strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to process excellence in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients using proper phlebotomy techniques.

Collect, label, process, and prepare clinical and forensic specimens in accordance with established protocols and quality standards.

Ensure accurate patient identification, specimen labeling, and documentation to maintain specimen integrity and regulatory compliance.

Maintain complete and accurate patient records, laboratory documentation, and data entry in electronic medical systems.

Provide clear explanations of procedures to patients to ensure comfort, trust, and cooperation.

Follow infection control, safety, HIPAA, and confidentiality guidelines at all times.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Work independently with minimal supervision while meeting productivity and quality expectations.

Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and punctuality while adhering to assigned schedules.

Support organizational goals by promoting excellent patient care and positive customer service experiences.
Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience; 1+ years preferred.

Strong venipuncture and specimen collection skills across diverse patient populations.

Experience with specimen processing, labeling, and laboratory procedures.

Excellent customer service and patient interaction skills.

Proficiency in data entry, electronic documentation, and keyboarding.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.

Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:

Phlebotomy certification (required in certain states).
-
Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or related healthcare training.
-
Experience in clinical, hospital, laboratory, or diagnostic settings.
-
Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
