Job Title: Specimen Technician
Location: Miramar, FL 33025
Duration: 3 months+ (Possibility of Extension)

Shift: 9 pm – 5:30 am
 
Overview:
The SPT I plays a vital support role in the Specimen Processing Department, performing data entry and specimen handling tasks with accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced, production-focused environment. This role ensures quality specimen processing that directly impacts lab testing and customer satisfaction.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Perform specimen-related tasks such as sorting, presort, A-station, imaging, microfilming, centrifugation, aliquoting, and transport to the lab.
• Enter data accurately (up to 6,000 keystrokes/hour).
• Identify specimen types and understand testing requirements and compliance standards.
• Adapt to daily changes and shifting priorities.
• Communicate effectively across all levels of staff.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in a biohazard lab environment.
• Meet productivity, quality, and turnaround goals.
• Support staffing needs on night shift, weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer/data entry skills.
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Flexibility to work in a changing, team-oriented environment.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance policies.

• Previous lab or production environment experience.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and specimen processing.
• Hospital lab experience is a plus.
