Phlebotomist II - Float
Job Title: Phlebotomist II – Float
Location: Dunnellon, FL
Duration: 4+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: Monday–Friday, 8hour shift between 5:00 AM–5:00 PM; Rotational Saturdays
Job Summary
The Phlebotomist II – Float (Patient Services Representative II) serves as the face of the organization, providing highquality phlebotomy services to patients in various locations. This role requires exceptional patient care skills, professionalism, and the ability to work independently in a fastpaced environment. The Phlebotomist II collects quality blood samples, prepares specimens for laboratory testing, and ensures adherence to established procedures and safety standards.
Float personnel travel between multiple sites as needed and are expected to maintain punctuality and professionalism at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Specimen Collection
- Perform highquality venipuncture and capillary blood collections, including on pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Create a supportive, trusting environment by explaining procedures and ensuring patient comfort.
- Verify patient identity, demographics, and signatures; ensure all specimens are labeled in the patient’s presence.
- Prepare, process, and store specimens following established clinical and forensic collection protocols.
Operational Excellence
- Perform daily tasks accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with procedural guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
- Manage records, documentation, and specimen logs per company and regulatory standards.
- Demonstrate strong organizational commitment and promote a positive image for patients, clients, and staff.

- Maintain strict confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, peers, and supervisors.
FloatSpecific Requirements
- Travel between multiple sites as assigned, sometimes with minimal notice.
- Maintain reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
- Submit mileage reimbursement for travel between sites (not home to site).
- Consistently arrive on time and remain for the full shift; excessive absenteeism or tardiness will result in dismissal.
Job Requirements
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to provide errorfree work in a highvolume, fastpaced environment.
- Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric experience.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Superior customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to schedule changes, multiple locations, and varied patient populations.
- Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry.
- Must exercise good judgement based on established procedures and standards.
Schedule & Availability
- Must be flexible regarding scheduling, including:
- Weekends
- Holidays
- Oncall coverage
- Overtime, when required
Transportation Requirements
- Must have own reliable personal transportation (rideshare/bus NOT acceptable).
- Valid driver’s license & clean driving record required.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent – Required
- Medical training (e.g., Medical Assistant, Paramedic) – Preferred
- Phlebotomy certification – Preferred
- Required in CA, NV, and WA
Experience Requirements
- 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience (pediatric, geriatric, capillary collections required).
- 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment – Preferred
- Customer service experience (retail or service setting) – Strongly preferred
Additional Details
- Training location may vary based on trainer availability.
- Floaters must remain punctual, reliable, and ready to work at designated locations each day.
- Failure to meet attendance or punctuality standards is grounds for termination.
