Lab Assistant
Job Title: Laboratory Assistant
Location: West Hills CA
Duration: 4 Months
Shift/Time Zone:11:00 AM - 07:30Pm (Tuesday - Saturday)
Pay Range: $24.34/hr on W2
Job Summary:
The Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of routine laboratory functions to support laboratory professionals and facilitate daily operations. This role requires precision, accuracy, and adherence to safety protocols.
Basic Purpose:
To assist laboratory staff by executing essential support tasks that contribute to the efficient and accurate processing of laboratory specimens.
Primary Responsibilities:

Receive, sort, and process incoming specimens.

Perform routine maintenance on select laboratory instruments.

Conduct laboratory procedures such as centrifugation, specimen aliquoting, label printing, and data entry (e.g., temperature logs).

Prepare specimens for testing by:

Building worklists
-
Aliquoting into appropriate containers
-
Checking for clots and fibrin
-
Inoculating cultures and preparing slides

Prepare reagents and media as required by the department.

Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) tasks as assigned.

Resolve issues on pending lists and locate missing samples.

Decontaminate and clean work areas regularly.

Conduct weekly radioactive wipe tests.

Maintain departmental records and organized filing systems.

Replace gas cylinders as needed.
-
Comply with all safety regulations and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

Use the laboratory information system (LIS) and personal computers to manage data.

Dispose of biohazardous waste safely and according to protocol.

Complete all required training and competency checklists in a timely manner.
