Job Summary:
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of all aspects of General Diagnostic Radiology. Adheres to departmental protocols and Client policies and procedures. Obtains and maintains RT(R) credentials in "Active Status." Uses technical knowledge to assist in troubleshooting work unit problems with respect to equipment and protocols and shares knowledge with employees and students in the work unit.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure patient demographic information, emulsion markers, and examination orders are correct.
• Critique, orient, and save all pertinent images; transmit QA-ed images to PACS.
• Document completion or cancellation of all procedures in RIS, including relevant comments.
• Maintain image management equipment and report any equipment problems.
• Utilize PACS and HIS systems to obtain additional study data.
• Perform quality radiographic images consistently and in a timely manner.
• Analyze requests and draw appropriate conclusions for examination and action plans.
• Review radiographic orders and images and correlate with patient demographic information.
• Review daily schedule and patient status; maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Document incidents and advise area supervisor of improvement opportunities.
• Use RIS, CIS, PACS, and SMS systems effectively to access information and document procedure status.
• Modify necessary orders for appropriateness; complete exams in RIS system, QC and transmit information to PACS; verify proper arrival of information in PACS.
• Verify patient identity and relevant history; assess pregnancy status before administering ionizing radiation.
• Assess patient condition, determine if additional personnel or equipment is needed, and take appropriate action.
• Assist patients requiring extra attention and respond to emergency situations to ensure patient safety.

 
Required Education:

• Accredited Associate's Degree or completion of an accredited Radiologic Sciences Program.

 
Required Certifications & Licensure:

• ARRT Certified in Radiography (maintain registry status and CE requirements annually).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
