- Position: Medical Pathology Clerk
- Location: Salinas, CA
- Schedule: Variable shifts: 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM / 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
- Duration:13-week contract on W2 (possibility of extension)
- Pay: $25/hr - $1000/week
Job Summary
We re on the hunt for a detail-obsessed, organized, and adaptable Medical Pathology Clerk to support the pathology team in keeping operations smooth and compliant. This role is the backbone of the department s administrative workflow think of it as the glue between lab results and the people who need them. You ll process specimens, handle critical data, and ensure communication channels are as clear as a microProduct lens.
Key Responsibilities
- Specimen Processing: Receive, label, and route pathology specimens accurately and efficiently we re not just handling test tubes; we re handling lives.
- Record Management: Maintain, file, and organize patient records, pathology reports, and test results like a pro librarian in scrubs.
- Communication Hub: Be the point-person between lab techs, pathologists, and other medical staff timely and accurate info saves time (and sometimes lives).
- Clerical Command: Perform filing, scanning, document prep, and all general clerical tasks that keep the department humming.
- Compliance: Uphold all safety protocols and patient confidentiality standards like it s your job because, well, it is.
- Data Entry: Enter and update data within lab systems with high precision (typos are not welcome in medicine).
- Specimen Tracking: Support with labeling and distributing specimens to ensure nothing gets lost in the shuffle.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Bonus points for additional education in medical or laboratory sciences.
- Prior experience in a laboratory, hospital, or healthcare setting preferred.
- Working knowledge of medical billing and insurance procedures.
- Familiarity with computer systems, medical terminology, and general office workflows.
