Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Job Summary
The Entry Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the welcoming face of the organization and plays a critical role in delivering exceptional patient care. This position focuses primarily on frontofhouse duties such as greeting patients, assisting with check-in, answering questions, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized waiting area. Over time, the individual will receive hands-on training in phlebotomy to support career growth and job advancement within the company.
The Entry PSR I ensures a professional, compassionate, and efficient experience for all patients. This role requires excellent customer service skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and accuracy while interacting with diverse patient populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients upon arrival with professionalism, care, and compassion while assisting with check-in using self-service kiosks or handheld tablets.
- Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and order of the waiting room/lobby to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Provide clear explanations to patients about what to expect during their visit and scheduled procedures.
- Assist with coverage for breaks when other phlebotomists are unavailable.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and compliance with confidentiality standards.
- Receive training in phlebotomy skills with the expectation of learning specimen collection procedures.
- Once trained, confidently perform venipuncture, specimen processing, and standard phlebotomy duties in accordance with established protocols.
- Uphold company policies, work efficiently under supervision, and maintain a professional image while supporting daily center operations.
- Demonstrate organizational commitment, willingness to learn, and a positive attitude toward patients, coworkers, and the public.
Job Requirements
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact compassionately and professionally with patients.
- Ability to assist with check-ins using technology (kiosks/tablets).
- Willingness to learn phlebotomy and actively participate in training.
- Once trained, ability to perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection following established procedures.
- Must display patience, empathy, reliability, and strong communication skills.
- Ability to maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable transportation to/from the worksite — rideshare, bus, or drop-off are not considered reliable.
- Must be punctual, available for all scheduled shifts, and remain for the full duration of each shift.
- Excessive tardiness or absenteeism is grounds for termination.
- Candidates must live within a 20–25 minute commute to ensure consistent punctuality.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- 1–2 years of customer-facing experience required (retail, home health aide, hospitality, service industries, etc.).
- No prior phlebotomy experience required.
- Keyboarding and accurate data entry skills required.
