Job Summary:
- Applies scientific knowledge/therapy to practical clinical problems of respiratory care.
- As a team member in delivery of respiratory services, and under medical direction, performs a wide range of procedures related to the care of patients with general and specialized respiratory-related needs, including those in the Pediatric areas.
- Performs evaluation to determine respiratory care needs, and makes appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines.
- Assesses effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards.
- Completes and documents required education and competencies within designated timeframe.
- Maintains competency in areas of accountability.
- Accurate and timely completion of all necessary documentation and billing.
- Facilitates a smooth transition for the patient to appropriate referral services / the next point of service / home and provides education to patients and families as it relates to respiratory issues.
- Instructs and trains other respiratory care staff, nursing and other medical personnel and students regarding patient needs and respiratory care services.
- Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Associate's Degree - Respiratory Therapy Required.
- Bachelor's Degree - Respiratory Therapy Preferred.
- LIC -Respiratory Therapist - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire Required.
- CRT-Respiratory Therapist Certification - NBRC National Board for Respiratory Care Upon Hire Or CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry - NBRC National Board for Respiratory Care.
- Excludes RTs in CHW regional hospitals and ambulatory locations with at least 10 years of RT licensure 1 Year Required.
- CRT-Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - AHA American Heart Association Regional Hospitals and NICU 90 Days Required.
- CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab 90 Days Required.
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days Required Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - client 90 Days Required.
