Job Title: Lab Assistant - 1st shift
Job Location: Murfreesboro, TN
Job Duration: 4 Months of contract
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (CST)
Pay Rate: $17.20.00/hr
Job Summary
The Laboratory Support Technician performs routine laboratory functions with precision and accuracy to support laboratory professionals and ensure efficient workflow. This role is essential in maintaining specimen integrity, supporting testing processes, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort and receive specimens within the department
- Perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments
- Centrifuge specimens and manage specimen storage and retrieval
- Print labels and record data (e.g., temperature logs)
- Prepare reagents and media as required
- Prepare specimens for testing, including:
- Building worklists
- Aliquoting specimens into sample containers
- Checking for clots or fibrin
- Slide preparation and inoculation
- Perform assigned QA/QC tasks
- Resolve pending specimen lists and locate missing samples
- Decontaminate work areas and maintain cleanliness
- Conduct weekly radioactive wipe tests
- Maintain departmental records and files
- Change gas cylinders as needed
- Follow all PPE guidelines and safety regulations
- Operate laboratory computer systems and general PC functions
- Dispose of biohazardous materials according to protocol
- Complete all required training and competency assessments
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical assistant training preferred
- Coursework in math and science is advantageous
Experience:
- No prior experience required
