Scheduling Coordinator
Job Title: Scheduling Coordinator
Location: Hackensack, New Jersey, 07601
Duration: 3 months
Shift: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5 days/week, 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week, no on-call
Work Setting: Outpatient Cardiology – Heart Failure & Pulmonary Hypertension Program
Pay Rate: $20-$21/hr.
Schedule Notes:
Coordinator to support Heart Failure and Pulmonary Hypertension program serving patients from early adulthood through older adulthood. Minimum 2 years front desk experience within healthcare required. Strong data entry skills and ability to manage high call volumes. Familiarity with Epic and/or cardiology highly preferred. Responsibilities include greeting patients, managing front-desk duties, completing check-in procedures, providing post-visit instructions, follow-up scheduling, and screening/routing incoming calls.
Required Skills & Experience

Preferred Skills & Experience

Two (2) years progressive experience in a medical office

Proficiency in medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines

Surgical coding knowledge (CPT and ICD-10)

Job Summary / Responsibilities

Coordinate all aspects of tests, procedures and surgeries under supervision of Practice Supervisor/Manager and physicians

Schedule procedures promptly and follow facility booking guidelines

Verify patient demographics, insurance coverage and obtain precertification

Coordinate physician calendars, co-surgeons, and cross-department scheduling

Order proper equipment for surgery

Communicate appointments and surgical preparation instructions to patients

Ensure completion of pre-op documentation including consent, H&P, physician orders and clearances

Arrange pre-admission testing and follow up results with physician
-
Maintain hospital block time guidelines
-
Coordinate postoperative care
-
Obtain surgical billing information and work with coding department to post/reconcile charges

Track procedures, testing and pathology results

Provide customer service and assist patients courteously in person and by phone

Provide cross-coverage and participate in surgical service meetings
