Occupational Therapist Assistant

Duties:

Job Summary:

The Client Occupational Therapist Assistant, under the direction of an Occupational Therapist, is responsible in assisting with performing test and providing restorative and rehabilitative Occupational Therapy services to participants at the Center and at home to maximize participant independence and safety and enhance performance of ADLs. Occupational Therapist Assistant will work with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement plan of care established by the Occupational Therapist. Occupational Therapist Assistant collaborates effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to promote the Client values, team culture and mission.



Job Responsibilities:

-Administer participant s treatment programs as established by the Occupational Therapist.

-Assist Occupational Therapist in obtaining vital signs, range of motion and strength testing.

-Coordinate with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement activities and programs based on the participant s individual treatment plans.

-Handle scheduling of participants treatment, clinical visits, and billing.

-Deliver and document Occupational Therapy interventions in accordance with the occupational therapist s established care plans including but not limited to the use of devices, techniques, activities to promote muscle re-education, perceptual-motor and cognitive function, balance and endurance, endurance and other factors affecting the level of independence in performing ADLs.

-Provide training and instructions to staff, participants and caregivers/families in the use and care of therapeutic equipment.

-Track and manage maintenance for equipment.

-Remain alert to pertinent input from other team members, participants, and caregivers and update the Occupational Therapist/IDT promptly of any changes in participants condition or functional status.

-Participate under the supervision of Occupational Therapist in end-of-life care coordination and support.

-Be legally authorized to practice in position location, required.

-Only act within the Product of his or her authority to practice.

-Complete all required documentation in a timely and accurate manner.

-Protect privacy and maintain confidentiality of all company procedures and information about team members, participants, and families.

-Follow Client policies and procedures and participate in any required Quality Improvement activities, staff training and meetings.

-Communicate regularly with Supervisor and team regarding workload and priorities.

-Timely completion of all mandated trainings and education.

-Timely completion of all mandated occupational health screenings as needed.

-Exercises flexibility in performing assignments as business needs evolve.

-Other duties as assigned.





Skills:

Required Skills & Experience:

-Minimum of two (2) years Occupational Therapy Assistant experience in a clinical setting with a frail or elderly population.

-Occupational Therapy Assistant knowledge and skills necessary to treat frail, elderly participants with complex needs.

-Highly motivated, self-directed, able to execute tasks in a quickly changing environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.

-Excellent clinical, organizational and communication skills in settings with seniors, their families and interdisciplinary team members.

-Excellent organizational and communication skills.

-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

-Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

-Experience and competency working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

-Commitment to unlocking the full potential of our most vulnerable seniors.

Education:

Required Education:

-Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from Accredited Program.

-The qualifying Occupational Therapy Assistant Degree earned outside of the US must be evaluated to the US equivalent to a Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

-Valid California Occupational Therapy Assistant License, or proof of License eligibility.

-Valid State Driver s License with a clean DMV record.

-Copy of recent Vehicle Insurance required.
