Packaging Engineer
Job Title: Packaging Technologist / Packaging Engineer
Shift/Schedule: Primarily Onsite (East Hanover, NJ)

1–2 remote days per week possible

Standard day shift hours

Travel up to 20% (occasional trips to Chicago or Long Island)
Role Overview:
Join a collaborative R&D team to execute Packaging Design and Deployment projects focused on PPA, Productivity, and Growth. You will be responsible for end-to-end packaging development, ensuring that packaging meets both functional and consumer expectations while aligning with manufacturing and marketing goals. This is a hands-on, lab-focused role supporting scale-up, testing, and reporting activities.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage and deliver packaging design and deployment projects with minimal supervision

Plan and execute pilot plant and factory trials according to GMP and HACCP standards

Support process development, including packaging design, scale-up, and commissioning

Conduct transit testing and analyze results using statistical methods (primarily in Excel)

Maintain accurate and complete packaging specifications and technical documentation

Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers for sampling, approvals, and updates

Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations clearly and proactively

Prepare detailed technical reports based on data and analysis
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
-
BS/MS in Packaging Science (iOPP CPP or CPIT certification preferred)
Experience:
-
3+ years in CPG packaging, preferably within the food industry

Strong background in packaging testing, data analysis, and technical report writing

Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP principles

Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and communicate effectively

Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data interpretation and visualization
