MRI Technologist
Job Title: MRI Technologist
Location: Baton Rouge, LA 70816
Duration: 3 months
Shift: Variable
Schedule: 40 hours per week, rotating day/evening shifts (0600–1430, 1030–1900, 1430–2300, or variations as needed); rotating night call shifts (weeknights 2300–0700 and weekends 2300–0630); all technologists rotate call as required.
Required Skills & Experience
-
2+ years of MRI clinical scanning experience.

Knowledge of Siemens Sola MRI scanner software.
Education
-
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensure & Certifications
-
ARRT registered or unlimited state license.
OR -
Certification in another clinical imaging field (such as ARDMS or NMTCB) with an associate degree or bachelor's degree in an allied health field.
OR -
ARRT, ARMRIT, or CAMRT registered as an MR technologist with no experience.

Advanced certification in MRI required by an organization recognized by the ACR Registry.
Job Summary

Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy.
-
Use radiology information systems to facilitate care.
-
Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
-
Independently operate equipment to complete imaging procedures according to protocol, including IV placement.
-
Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality.
-
Perform timely quality control procedures per regulatory standards.
-
Assist with departmental operations such as inventory, staff schedules, and equipment maintenance.
-
Adapt communication and care based on patient population and cultural needs.
-
Provide care and support consistent with patient age, social, and cultural needs.
-
Perform other related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Proficiency with computers, software, and web-based applications.

Effective verbal and written communication.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of MRI procedures and technical language.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently under pressure.

Flexibility for nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
-
Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, Doppler physics, and hemodynamics.

Ability to assist with interventional procedures requiring ultrasonic guidance.
Physical and Environmental Demands

Work Type: Very Heavy Work – exerting over 100 pounds occasionally and over 50 pounds frequently.
