Job Title: Outage Planner/Dispatcher
Location: Windsor, Allentown, PA (Onsite – 5 days/week)
Duration: 12 months
Shift: May require rotating shifts
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Outage Planner/Dispatcher to coordinate electrical outages, ensure compliance with safety procedures, and efficiently direct work crews.
This role requires strong communication, analytical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring safety and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Outage Planning & Coordination:
- Plan and submit outage requests for electrical zones of protection in substations and distribution systems.
- Prepare and review switch orders to ensure compliance with safety tagging and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Compile, track, and distribute outage request information to project stakeholders.
- Interpret electrical one-line diagrams and schematics to support safe and efficient outage planning.
- Serve as a dispatcher when required.
- Direct and dispatch work crews based on customer requests, project specifications, or operational needs.
- Coordinate activities with Distribution and Transmission System Operators to ensure safe and effective resource use.
- Communicate critical information to system operators to facilitate safe and efficient responses to outages.
- Call out, direct, and dispatch personnel as needed and secure additional support from other departments.
- Interact professionally with 911 centers, ensuring all necessary information is exchanged for safe and efficient emergency response.
- Address and resolve customer inquiries and complaints professionally, both verbally and in writing.
- Perform administrative functions related to outage coordination and documentation.
- Execute other duties as assigned to support operational efficiency.
- Experience in outage planning, dispatching, or utility operations is preferred.
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution and substation systems.
- Familiarity with safety tagging, LOTO procedures, and outage coordination.
- Ability to interpret electrical one-line diagrams and schematics.
- Strong communication and coordination skills to work with various stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software tools.
- Ability to work rotating shifts as required.
This role is onsite in Allentown, PA (Windsor location) 5 days a week and offers an opportunity to contribute to the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems.
