Phlebotomist I
Job Title: Patient Services Representative I (Phlebotomist)
Location: Burleson, TX
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Day Shift)
License Requirement: Valid Texas credentials required
Job Summary:
The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the first point of contact for patients and plays a critical role in providing quality care and service. The PSR I is responsible for collecting quality blood samples, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and ensuring a safe and professional environment. This role requires strong phlebotomy skills, particularly with pediatric and geriatric patients, as well as experience in high-volume settings.
Key Responsibilities:

Greet patients and verify patient information in a professional, courteous manner

Perform venipunctures and capillary collections for both clinical and forensic testing

Accurately label, process, and prepare specimens for lab testing

Explain procedures to patients and ensure their comfort and safety

Maintain accurate records and documentation of specimen collections

Follow established protocols and safety standards

Demonstrate leadership behaviors and uphold confidentiality and accuracy of patient information

Represent the organization in a positive, professional manner at all times
Required Qualifications:
-
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
-
Experience:
-
Minimum of 6 months experience in phlebotomy
-
At least 3 years of experience preferred, especially with difficult draws
-
Experience with pediatric and geriatric patients required

Extensive specimen processing experience

Prior experience in reference laboratories (e.g., *** Lab, LabCorp, CPL, PathGroup) preferred

Certifications:
-
Phlebotomy certification preferred (Required in CA, NV, WA)

Medical Assistant or Paramedic training is a plus

Technical Skills:
-
Proficiency in data entry and use of electronic medical systems

Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

Additional Requirements:

Must be flexible and available for weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts as needed

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and professional workspace
