Job Title: Patient Services Representative I (Phlebotomist)

Location: Burleson, TX
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Day Shift)
License Requirement: Valid Texas credentials required




Job Summary:

The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the first point of contact for patients and plays a critical role in providing quality care and service. The PSR I is responsible for collecting quality blood samples, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and ensuring a safe and professional environment. This role requires strong phlebotomy skills, particularly with pediatric and geriatric patients, as well as experience in high-volume settings.




Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and verify patient information in a professional, courteous manner

  • Perform venipunctures and capillary collections for both clinical and forensic testing

  • Accurately label, process, and prepare specimens for lab testing

  • Explain procedures to patients and ensure their comfort and safety

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of specimen collections

  • Follow established protocols and safety standards

  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors and uphold confidentiality and accuracy of patient information

  • Represent the organization in a positive, professional manner at all times




Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 6 months experience in phlebotomy

    • At least 3 years of experience preferred, especially with difficult draws

    • Experience with pediatric and geriatric patients required

    • Extensive specimen processing experience

    • Prior experience in reference laboratories (e.g., *** Lab, LabCorp, CPL, PathGroup) preferred

  • Certifications:

    • Phlebotomy certification preferred (Required in CA, NV, WA)

    • Medical Assistant or Paramedic training is a plus

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in data entry and use of electronic medical systems

    • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

    • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills




Additional Requirements:

  • Must be flexible and available for weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts as needed

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and professional workspace
