Receiving Forklift Operator
Job Title: Receiving Forklift Operator
Duration: 2 months, possibility of extension
Hours/Week: 40
Days: Weekdays (Monday through Friday)
Shift/Time Zone: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Eastern Time
Job Description:
Basic Purpose:
Responsible for the shipping, receiving, and routing of materials into and out of the Business Unit (BU), ensuring appropriate documentation is maintained and data entry is accurate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, verify, process, and route all materials into the facility and off-site facilities (remote sites), entering receipts into the Materials Management software system.
- Notify the Warehouse Manager of any discrepancies between materials and shipping documentation.
- Prepare shipments, including documentation, for outbound shipments.
- Manage the Returned Goods process according to the Returned Goods Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Deliver stock to appropriate staging areas for departments.
- Put warehoused items in designated storage areas and rotate stock based on receipt date and expiration dates to ensure proper stock rotation.
- Note any short-dated materials upon receipt (less than 30 days of shelf life) and report to the Warehouse Manager for further action.
- Assist in cycle counting and full physical inventory.
- Ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures, including Materials and Services Management, Human Resources, Employee Health and Safety, Compliance, OSHA, CLIA, etc.
- Analyze current procedures and make recommendations for process improvements to the Warehouse Manager.
- Assist with order entry, picking, packing, and delivery of both internal and external orders as needed.
- Assist in the record storage and retrieval process as needed.
- Assist with preparation, receipt, and distribution of internal, inbound, and external mail as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education Preferred:
- Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience:
- Six months of previous materials management experience.
- Data entry experience is preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Good record-keeping and organizational skills.
- Ability to operate a computer, printer, and barcode scanner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.) or equivalent.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to operate materials handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack, etc.).
- Reach truck experience is required.
- Safety Shoes Required: Lace-up only styles (no pull-ups or loafer-styles), steel toe, metatarsal protection not required, athletic styles acceptable, waterproof/oil-resistant not required, high slip resistance preferred.
