Job Title: Writer
Location: Houston, TX - 77030 (Hybrid - 3 days onsite in a week)
Duration: 3+ months
Shift: 8 AM - 5 PM CST

Duties:
  • Our writer serves as a content creator for various internal communications and recruitment vehicles. In support of Client s mission of providing world-class health care to children and women everywhere, the HR Communications team is made up of diverse individuals who are each committed to creating a positive employee and candidate experience by delivering high-quality, timely, thoughtful, and effective communications.
  • Manages content, timeline, and distribution through assigned communications vehicles.
  • Research news stories to ensure clarity and accuracy for our audiences.
  • Proactively identifies important initiatives and events and then works with internal communications team to ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Attends events for internal and external reporting. Coordinates with photographers, writers, public relations team, and event managers (as needed) to ensure alignment between all groups.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders to remain current on important initiatives.
  • Interfaces with stakeholders (as required) to research topics and assist in content creation.

The primary duties for this position include writing and editing stories. The contingent worker will research stories, procure story leads when possible, interview employees, gather background information from colleagues, the internet, etc. They would also need to secure photos and graphics for inclusion on the Connect intranet. They need to possess strong writing skills and storytelling ability. They will need to be able to identify news angles and understand writing for an internal audience. They need to have a customer service mindset and work well with others. Experience working with executives is a plus. Any graphics experience is a plus.

Skills:
  • Thorough understanding of effective communications principles, as well as writing and editing standards through previous experience.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and situational awareness.
  • Ability to conduct meetings and present with professionalism.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple responsibilities with a high level of creativity, collaboration, and attention to detail.
  • Expertise working with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Understanding of social media landscape and online channels (preferred).
  • Independently driven with comfort working either autonomously or in a group setting.
  • Ability to meet simultaneous deadlines.
  • Interest in joining a growing, diverse communications team.

Education:
Required - Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Human Resources, or Business.
Required - 3 years of work experience as a Writer.
