We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician (Pre-Analytical) to support daily laboratory operations. This role performs routine laboratory functions with precision and accuracy to assist professional laboratory staff and ensure efficient specimen processing and workflow.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician (Pre-Analytical) to support daily laboratory operations. This role performs routine laboratory functions with precision and accuracy to assist professional laboratory staff and ensure efficient specimen processing and workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, sort, and accession specimens within the department.
- Prepare specimens for testing, including building worklists, aliquoting samples, and labeling.
- Perform centrifugation, slide preparation, inoculation, and specimen storage/retrieval.
- Inspect specimens for integrity (clots, fibrin, volume adequacy).
- Prepare reagents and/or media as required.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance on designated laboratory equipment.
- Record and maintain temperature logs and other departmental documentation.
- Conduct Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) activities as assigned.
- Resolve pending specimen lists and locate missing samples.
- Decontaminate work areas and dispose of biohazardous waste per regulations.
- Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests.
- Change gas cylinders as needed.
- Maintain departmental files and records.
- Adhere to all PPE requirements and laboratory safety policies.
- Utilize laboratory information systems and computer workstations effectively.
- Complete all required training and competency assessments.
- This role may include additional responsibilities as assigned to support laboratory operations.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical Assistant training is a plus.
- Basic math and science coursework preferred.
