Job Description: Phlebotomist I

Location: Wesley Chapel, FL
Duration: 6+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Every 3rd Saturday, 6:30 AM – 12:30 PM




Position Summary

The Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the organization and provides exceptional patient interaction while performing blood collection and specimen preparation. This role requires accuracy, professionalism, and a strong commitment to patient care and safety. The PSR I ensures all specimen collection standards are met while building trust, explaining procedures clearly, and maintaining confidentiality.

This position operates under the supervision of the Area Supervisor and requires adherence to established protocols, timelines, quality standards, and organizational values.




Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily duties accurately and in a timely manner under supervisory direction.
  • Create and maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
  • Conduct both forensic and clinical specimen collection following established practices and procedures.
  • Collect highquality blood samples from patients, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
  • Prepare, label, and process laboratory specimens accurately for testing.
  • Maintain all required documentation, logs, and records.
  • Provide excellent customer service while promoting a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, coworkers, and the public.
  • Uphold confidentiality, accuracy, and professional conduct at all times.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors and commitment to process excellence.



Job Requirements

  • Ability to produce accurate, highquality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal onsite supervision.
  • Strong phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric draws.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, oncall hours, and overtime as required.
  • Reliable transportation to/from worksite (public transit/rideshare not accepted).
  • Must be able to report on time and remain for the entire scheduled shift.
  • Excessive absenteeism or tardiness will result in termination.



Required Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • Medical training preferred (Medical Assistant or Paramedic training)
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred
    • Required in: California, Nevada, Washington



Work Experience

  • Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience (Required)
  • 1+ year phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Prior customer service experience in retail or service environment preferred
  • Keyboarding and data entry experience required



Additional Details

  • Candidates must list home city and commute time on their resume
    • Commute must be within 20–25 minutes of the site
  • Pay rate is based on years of direct phlebotomy experience (overlapping roles do not count twice)
  • Students must ensure class schedules do not conflict with assigned work shifts
  • Must be dependable and available for full scheduled hours
