MRI Technician

Careers Integrated Resources Inc Bakersfield, CA (Onsite) Contractor
Shift: 10hour shifts/4 shifts per week to include weekends. Hours vary between 5:30a-9pm. The days are usually Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon, but can vary depending on need. Varying on call shifts during the week and weekends.
Duties:

Under direction performs a variety of technical procedures which utilize Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) for the diagnosis and treatment of disease and trauma. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist operate magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images from patient s bodies for diagnostic purposes.

Skills:

Receives, relays, and documents verbal, written and electronic orders in the patient s medical record. Corroborates patient s clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed independent practitioner. Assumes responsibility for patient needs during procedures. Performs venipuncture as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner. Starts and maintains intravenous access as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner. Identifies, prepares and or administers contrast as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner. Educates and monitors students and other health care providers. Explains procedures to patients, family members and/or guardians and screens patients for contradictions. Instructs patients regarding magnetic imaging procedures; prepares, positions and manipulates patients to ensure appropriate placement for imaging. Assists physicians in administration of contrast media or other medications; operates a contrast injector. Selects appropriate imaging techniques; calibrates console and peripheral hardware Performs physical inventories and maintains clinic supplies; performs quality assurance procedures on magnetic resonance equipment. Transmits images to laser imager and workstations for review and/or formatting. Maintains an MRI procedure manual. Maintains equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition. Recommends actions to improve department performance and participates in quality improvement activities. Inputs charges into an automated billing system. Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skill in the care of patients ranging in age from the newborn to geriatric patients. Dependent upon area of practice or department assignment, demonstrates clinical knowledge and skill in the care of the newborn, infant, toddler, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient ranging up to 100+ years of age.

Education:

High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent.

CDPH radiologic technologist with Fluoro certification required.

MRI certified preferred.

IV certification.

Minimum 2 years experience required.

Hospital experience required.

Trauma experience preferred.

Graduation from an accredited two-year program in radiologic technology. Approved by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology AND Certification by the American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT) as a Radiologic Technologist; certification as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the State of California, Department of Public Health; and, certification by the State of California, Department of Health Services as a Certified Fluoroscopy permit.

A current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card.
