Job Title: Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)
Location: Los Angeles, CA 90056
Contract Length: 3 + Months (Possibilities of Extension)
Pay Rate: $60/hr. on W2
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (On-call required)

- Days: Monday–Friday
- Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- On-call: Required
Position Summary:
Under administrative direction, the Lead CLS oversees laboratory operations and personnel, serving as the lead technologist for assigned sections, with an emphasis on Microbiology. This role ensures delivery of high-quality laboratory testing services and requires independent decision-making and broad technical oversight. The Lead CLS supports both daily operations and long-term performance standards in accordance with clinical and regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical and administrative leadership for laboratory staff and operations.
- Ensure quality control, regulatory compliance, and accuracy in diagnostic testing.
- Perform complex analyses in Microbiology and troubleshoot lab issues.
- Oversee testing in Blood Bank, Urinalysis (UA), CBC, and i-STAT.
- Monitor workload, optimize workflows, and support accreditation readiness.
- Support training, competency assessment, and scheduling of lab personnel.
- Maintain current documentation, policies, and procedures in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Qualifications & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S. or equivalent) in Medical Technology or related clinical field.
- ASCP Certification (American Society for Clinical Pathology).
- California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) License.
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association only).
Required Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Strong working knowledge of Blood Bank, Urinalysis, CBC, and i-STAT procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and manage laboratory staff in a hospital environment.
