Phlebotomist Floater - 1st Shift
Duration: 3 + Months
Shift: 8 hours – Between 6 am to 5:30 pm
Location: Danbury, CT
Pay Rate: $22/hr on w2
The Phlebotomist III – Float serves as a key patient-facing professional, delivering high-quality phlebotomy services while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality. This role is responsible for collecting blood specimens using venipuncture and capillary techniques, properly labeling and processing samples, and preparing specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established clinical protocols.
This position requires flexibility to provide coverage across multiple locations, including Patient Service Centers (PSC), physician offices, long-term care facilities, mobile phlebotomy settings, and in-office environments. The Phlebotomist III – Float ensures daily operations are completed accurately, efficiently, and within required turnaround times.
Key Responsibilities

Perform venipuncture, capillary puncture, and specialized blood collection procedures on patients of all age groups, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.

Accurately label, process, store, and transport specimens following laboratory standards and regulatory requirements.

Provide coverage across multiple sites including PSCs, mobile units, physician offices, and long-term care facilities.

Deliver excellent patient care by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and maintaining a professional and compassionate approach.

Maintain strict patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.

Ensure accuracy in data entry, specimen documentation, and patient information management.

Support high-volume environments while maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency.

Assist in coordinating daily workflow and operational activities at assigned locations.
Leadership and Advanced Responsibilities

Serve as a mentor, coach, and trainer for new employees and team members.

Act as a resource advisor and point of contact for staff and operational support.

Provide leadership support and help oversee daily activities when assigned.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including laboratory staff, logistics, billing, IT, and client services.

Support onboarding of new clients and ensure smooth operational transitions.

Maintain strong communication with supervisors and leadership regarding workflow, issues, and improvements.

Required Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent.
-
Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in certain states).

Medical Assistant, EMT, or Paramedic training preferred.

Minimum 2–5 years of phlebotomy experience.

Experience with pediatric, geriatric, and capillary blood collection.

Experience working in PSC, IOP, hospital, or clinical environments preferred.

Strong customer service and patient interaction skills.

Proficiency in data entry, electronic medical records (EMR), and computer systems.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
