Job Title: Research and Development Technician
Job Location: Philadelphia, PA 19112
Job Duration: +12 months with possible extension

Shift: Mon - Fri 8 am – 5 pm
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the design of experiments, conduct those experiments independently, and collect, summarize, and present the resulting data.
  • Prepare and evaluate coating formulations, including electro-coat, primer, topcoat, and clear coat, using mixing equipment and various spray equipment.
  • Train and become proficient in application equipment to spray coating formulations on test substrates.
  • Accurately run and record test results for all coating formulations.
  • Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the laboratory and collaborate with research investigators when erroneous or unexpected results occur.
  • Document findings and communicate results using Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, and Teams.
  • Make suggestions on path forward and contribute to formulating work plans and managing daily workflow.
  • Inspect and perform routine maintenance on equipment used to conduct experiments at the designated work location.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of chemicals and/or supplies necessary for the completion of experiments.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Safely handle, categorize, and dispose of chemicals on a routine basis.
  • Handle multiple tasks under strict time constraints.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2-year or 4-year degree from a college or technical school in a chemical or life-science-related field, or equivalent job experience in an industrial laboratory environment.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to work well in both self-managed and team environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting established deadlines.
  • Comfortable working safely with hazardous materials.
  • Strong interest in hands-on work to ensure a good understanding of the products.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to interpret data and trends.
