Day-to-Day Responsibilities/Workload
The IT Senior Project Manager for the AMI 2.0 Program will lead critical pre-planning and system integrator engagement activities for a major Advanced Metering Infrastructure initiative. This role focuses on resource planning, technical blueprinting, business process design, and vendor coordination within a complex IT environment.
- Facilitate IT business process mapping and requirements gathering to ensure alignment with functional needs, technical delivery, and SI area of responsibility.
- Develop a comprehensive resource plan based on technical Product, including roles, skillsets, and effort and cost estimates across workstreams (integration, data, infrastructure, and testing).
- Support the development and refinement of a high-level solution blueprint that defines Product, schedule, and budget from a technical lens integrating infrastructure, data flows, and system interfaces to inform delivery planning.
- Plan and coordinate the Planning & Analyze phases, including solution design validation, technical feasibility reviews, and preparation for Build phase activities including, e.g., environment readiness, development sequencing, testing strategy, and deployment rollout.
Required Skills/Attributes
- Experience managing large IT programs, resource planning, solution blueprinting, implementation planning, and overall end-to-end delivery management.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional leadership.
- Familiarity with AMI, smart grid, or large Electric Utility technology and infrastructure projects.
- Strong blend of business insight and technical proficiency to bridge the gap between stakeholder needs and technological solutions.
Desired Skills/Attributes
- Bachelor s degree in engineering, business, computer science, or other business-related discipline (including liberal arts majors).
- Experience with utility technology needs, including strategic objectives and areas of investment focus.
- Experience delivering/developing technical information to a non-technical audience as well as to senior leadership.
- Experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning or strategy/management consulting.
